Brief Itinerary
This is a 3 days trip to the western part of Uganda in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and it will give you an opportunity to visit some of the hidden treasures of the pearl of Africa. As you will be driving through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale among many other towns in the western part of the country, the sights of banana plantations will woo you beyond expectations. The green sceneries and rolling hills of this part of the country are just mesmerizing. The trip will begin here in Kampala, via Masaka, the Equator line, Mbarara, Kabale, and Kisoro (Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park) where you will get to come face to face with the gentle giants of the forest (Mountain Gorillas). On this trip, you will also get to see the most beautiful and second deepest lake in Africa (Lake Bunyonyi) with numerous bird species and other wildlife.
Day 1: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through the Equator
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel (airport) for your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This trip leads you south west of the country to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will drive through savanna meadows and see banana plantations. Get to take photos at the Equator line where you will be in the middle of the world. (Lunch will be en-route on this day)
Mid-range accommodation
Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Today is the long-awaited day!
After an early breakfast, your guide will take you to the tracking starting point where we shall have our briefing from, Expect to go a longer distance in steep and difficult conditions.
Depending on where the gorilla camp was the night before, the hike may take short or longer hours before encountering the gentle giants. But it is definitely worth watching the gorillas eating and playing. If you meet the gorillas, you can spend an hour with them a magical unique and exciting experience! After this magnificent encounter we shall proceed for lunch, Have the rest of the day at leisure or you can opt for a community visit of the Batwa people (forest inhabitants whose lives and culture is very interesting). Have dinner and stay up for campfire till late in the night.
Mid-range Accommodation
Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi and Departure for Kampala
After breakfast we shall check out of the accommodation and head towards Kampala. You will a detour to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most fascinating lakes in Africa. Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa after Lake Tanganyika. This lake comprises of over 29 islands of different sizes and shapes. Take a canoe boat before heading out to Kampala. Lunch will be en-route at the igongo cultural center, Depending on the time for your flight, your guide will drop you off at the airport.
